Oklahoma has for a long time been analogous with Bingo. This is due to the fact that the Amerindian bands of Oklahoma have run Bingo games for decades. Patrons from each of the nearby states pile in vehicles and head over to Oklahoma to wager on Bingo over the weekends.

The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) became law after a landmark ruling by The U.S. Supreme Court just the year prior. From that time, 23 of the 39 American Indian tribes of Oklahoma have established bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma Indian tribes to take advantage of the wagering restrictions, and today run 10 gambling halls of their own. Bingo is the game on which these casinos were built on. Electronic games such as one armed bandits weren’t approved, because they are thought to contribute to gambling problems at a higher rate than bingo.

In recent years, Oklahoma rules have changed to permit big American Indian betting gambling halls. You’ll now find Indian casinos with slot machines, video poker and blackjack tables. Craps and roulette are still not legal in the Amerindian casinos yet, although this is just a matter of time. No one can authority whether having different games in the bingo parlors will do for the draw of bingo.
